You can create two types in the request builder, Collect documents and Record consent only, and a third type, a consent renewal, is made when a retention case is renewed.

The two cards at the top of the request builder choose the type. Collect documents is chosen each time you open it.

TypeWhat the person doesWhere you start it
Collect documentsReads the notice, agrees, then uploads documents and types answers. The builder, first card.
Record consent onlyReads the notice, then agrees or declines. Nothing is uploaded. The builder, second card.
Consent renewalIs asked to extend consent for what you already hold.Renew on a retention case, or from the client's folder.

With Collect documents, the files and answers are kept under your retention rule. With Record consent only, you hold the documents yourself. Nothing is deleted here, and the Retention queue asks you to confirm when the day comes. The steps are in recording consent for documents you already hold.

A template applies to Collect documents only. When Record consent only is chosen, the builder says so in place of the template row.

A consent renewal is not made in the builder. Depending on your consent renewal settings, you choose Renew or we prepare it for you. The renewal is then managed from the Retention queue, which is also where its request page sends you. Read how to ask a client to renew.
