When your client finishes a request, we create one rights link for the consent they just gave. The link appears on the receipt page they see at the end. A client who has sent only part and has not finished has no rights link yet.
Your client finishes a request in one of three ways:
- They send every item.
- They choose to finish with what they have sent.
- They agree to a request that only records consent, or accept a renewal and keep something.
Every consent has its own link. A client with two requests has two rights links, and a renewal gives the client a new link for the new consent.
The receipt page shows the link once. Your client can print the receipt, copy the link, or type an email address and choose Send. We email the receipt and the link to that address, up to 3 times for each link. We do not store the address on your client's record.
The link opens a page that shows the consent as recorded: your firm's name and logo, the request title, when it was given, and the names of the items it covers. It never shows the documents themselves. From that page your client can withdraw the consent or ask you for a copy, a correction or deletion, and you answer on the Rights page.
Opening the link changes nothing. We record that it was opened, once for each link on each day, and your audit trail shows "Rights link opened by the person". It also shows "Rights link issued" on the day we created the link.
We keep only a fingerprint of the link. No screen shows the link to you or to us, and nothing sends it again. If your client has lost it, see how to act for them.
