A required item must arrive before a person's request counts as complete, and an item marked If applicable never holds it open.

Every item starts as Required. Choose the word on the row to change it to If applicable, and choose it again to change it back.

A person's request is complete when every required item has arrived. Items marked If applicable can arrive too, but the request does not wait for them. The send that brings in the last required item closes that person's link. An item marked If applicable has to come in that send or an earlier one. You are told when a person's request is complete.

Your client sees the difference. An item marked If applicable carries the tag Optional on their page.

A person who has sent at least one item can also finish without the remaining required items. Then the request is recorded as closed short. You can close a request early yourself too.

Whether an item is required is fixed when you create the request. In a Record consent only request every item is required, and the choice is not shown.

For example

Amaltas Deshmukh & Co asks Farhan Qureshi for his PAN Card as Required and a cancelled cheque as If applicable. Farhan uploads the PAN Card and nothing else. His request is complete, because the only required item has arrived.
