A document is a file your client uploads and a written answer is text your client types, and you choose which each item is with the switch on its row.

Every row under What you need is one of two kinds. A new row starts as a Document. Choose the kind button on the row to switch it to Written answer, and choose it again to switch back.

Both kinds are kept under the same retention rule. Each document and each answer has its own date.

PAN Card and Driving Licence are always documents, so their rows have no switch. They can also be fetched from DigiLocker.

In a Record consent only request, the items are the categories you hold. Nothing is uploaded and nothing is typed, so those rows have no kind.
