If an automatic renewal charge fails, your account moves to Payment due for 15 days with everything working, and you can pay from Plan & billing at once or wait for Razorpay to retry the charge.

This page covers a charge that fails on an automatic renewal. If the Razorpay window closes before a payment goes through, nothing is charged and the window offers Try again.

When the charge fails, the account moves to Payment due the same day. The 15 days are counted from the day your plan ended, as they are when you stop paying. Everything works during them. We email everyone whose role has the Plan & billing switch on the day the charge fails, and the email gives the dates.

Razorpay retries the failed charge. If a retry goes through, the plan is restored and you need do nothing. If every retry fails, automatic renewal ends and you pay from Plan & billing before the 15 days run out.

On Plan & billing the Automatic renewal row reads Charge failed. The Payment due card says the automatic payment did not go through. You cannot cancel automatic renewal while the charge is failing.

You do not have to wait for a retry. Choose Renew now to pay for one period yourself. Paying here cancels automatic renewal first, so a retry can never charge you a second time. The new period starts on the day your last plan ended, so the days of Payment due are counted in it. When the payment is confirmed, the window offers Turn on automatic renewal, or Not now to renew by hand next time. Your invoice is issued with the payment.

If the 15 days run out unpaid, the account is suspended.

For example

Amaltas Deshmukh & Co pays for a monthly plan on 1 July 2027 with automatic renewal on. The charge on 1 August 2027 fails. The account shows Payment due from 1 August 2027, and everything works until 15 August 2027. If Amaltas Deshmukh & Co chooses Renew now on 10 August 2027, the new period runs from 1 August 2027 to 31 August 2027.
