Your client reads your reason on their rights link, and the app will not record a decline without one.

When you choose Decline on a row of the Rights page, the form asks Why are you declining? The reason must be 3 to 300 characters. A shorter or longer one is refused and nothing is recorded.

Your client sees your reason word for word on their rights link, next to the date you declined. A full stop at the end of your reason is removed when it is shown.

The reason is stored with the answer, and the Register tab of the Rights page shows it. The decline itself is recorded on your audit trail against your name.

We send your client nothing when you decline. They see the reason when they next open their link. We do not read or check the reason.

On the same page your client can ask again. The page also shows your grievance contact. It tells them they may complain to the Data Protection Board of India if a grievance is not resolved.
