Your client can choose English or one of 14 other languages from the translate icon beside Read the full notice, and the notice they agree to is stored in the language they chose.

Nothing needs setting up. The language choice appears on your client's upload page, on a consent-only request and on a consent renewal.

It is a translate icon with the name of the language now shown, beside Read the full notice. Choosing a language opens the full notice in it. The languages are English, Hindi, Bengali, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Gujarati, Urdu, Kannada, Odia, Malayalam, Punjabi, Assamese, Nepali, Sanskrit.

The law gives a person the option to read the notice in English or in any language in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution (DPDP Act, section 5(3)). Our guide explains what the rule requires.

  • ✓The notice changes: its headings and its fixed sentences, which are our translation of the English notice.
  • ✗What you entered does not change: your items, the purpose, any law you name, the retention period, names and dates appear exactly as you entered them.
  • ✗The page around the notice does not change: its buttons, its short summary rows, the emails and the receipt's labels stay in English.

Every notice in another language carries one line under its title. The line says that the words in English are details you entered or chose and are not translated.

We compose the notice in the chosen language when your client picks it, from the same details you entered. Nothing is stored at that point. When your client agrees, the notice on their screen is stored as its own notice version, with its own fingerprint, and their consent points to it. The notice you published stays in English and is not changed.

To see which language a client agreed in, open the consent in your client's folder.

A request created before notice languages were added shows no language choice. Its notice stays in English.
