Tick Save as a template at the bottom of the request builder, enter a template name, and choose Create request or Save template only.

A template keeps the layout of a request so you do not retype it. Only a team member whose role includes Save and edit templates sees the option. It is not offered when Record consent only is chosen.

  1. 1 In the request builder, fill in What to call it, What you need and Terms.
  2. 2 At the bottom, tick Save as a template.
  3. 3 Enter a Template name of 1 to 120 characters. The name must differ from your other templates. Capital letters do not make two names different.
  4. 4 To save the template and create the request, choose Create request. To save it alone, choose Save template only. This needs the title, the purpose, at least one named item and the name, but no people.

The template keeps the title, the purpose, each item with its kind and whether it is required, and the retention rule, including a law's period. It does not keep the people or how long the link stays open.

The template is saved first. If the request then cannot be created, the template stays saved. It then appears in the Start from row at the top of the builder. See starting a request from a template.

A saved template is not edited. To change or remove it, delete it with the cross beside its name in the Start from row, then save a new one. Deleting needs the same role setting, Save and edit templates.
