No, documents are stored encrypted, open only for people signed in to your firm whose role allows it, and each view and download is recorded.

Stored encrypted

Each document is encrypted with AES-256-GCM before it is stored, and every document has its own key. That key is wrapped by a key held for your firm, and your firm's key is protected under AWS KMS. The files are stored in Mumbai. When a document is deleted, its key is destroyed.

Opened only through your firm

The database limits every read to your firm's records. A person in your firm opens a document only when signed in and only when their role holds the See requests, clients and documents permission. Admins and members hold it by default. The same limits apply to your client list.

Every view and download is recorded

Each view and each download is written to your audit trail with who did it and when.

Our side

No screen in Confidential Dispatch lets our staff open a firm's documents. The export you download carries a line in its README that nobody at Confidential Dispatch opens or reads it.

A document you download is a normal file. Anyone who holds a copy of it can open it, so keep it as you keep any other client file.
