Once a day we copy the latest fingerprint of your chain to storage that nobody can rewrite, so a record changed afterwards cannot match what was anchored.

An anchor is a small record of the latest entry in your proof chain. It holds the entry's number and its SHA-256 fingerprint, and the time. It holds no personal data.

We write an anchor for your account once a day, on a day your chain has new entries. We store anchors in Amazon S3 in Mumbai with S3 Object Lock in compliance mode. While an anchor is locked, nobody can change or delete it, and that includes us.

The chain proves that its entries match one another. The anchor is a check from outside the chain. A chain rewritten after an anchor was taken would no longer match that anchor.

Entries from the current day are anchored the next time the anchor runs. The newest entries are therefore not covered yet.

Your export carries your anchors in the evidence folder, in the file anchors.json. To check them, find each anchor's entry number in chain.jsonl. The fingerprint on that entry must equal the anchor's.
